"The greatest persecution of the Church does not come from external enemies, but is born of sin within the church"-Pope Benedict xvi

Salve Regina.

I first heard this sung only last month, after we said the Rosary at the Latin Mass Society Family Retreat. Only last month. It took my breath away. So I am making a point to learn it.
I can't for the life of me understand how all this tradition and awesome music was kept from my generation. Who decided "Follow me" or "Colours of day" or that innane "clappy Gloria" was a better choice? What were they smoking? Why consign this to the bin?
The trouble with trendy,is that within a generation,it becomes tacky and cringeworthy. The Salve Regina, though,is like a pure glass of spring water, after only ever drinking fizzy pop. Lovely.

Yes indeed, and if you like this you should hear the solemn Salve! Not to mention the other great Marian antiphons: Regina Caeli, Alma Redemptoris, and Ave Regina Caelorum... And then there is the wonderful Ave Maris Stella! A fantatic heritage which is still there, despite the best efforts of modern liturgists.
